Top 10 bathroom furniture trends 2025
When it comes to the bathroom, the focus is no longer just on functionality. Much more important is the space for relaxation: those who have a beautifully designed bathroom feel completely at ease. Take a look at the top 10 bathroom trends for 2025 and be inspired by our bathroom ideas.
Trend 1: Natural materials

Natural materials are very popular in bathroom design. They create a relaxed atmosphere in your oasis of well-being. They are also durable and sustainable.
Popular natural materials for the bathroom include:
Wood
Wood is one of the most popular materials for designing a modern bathroom. Domestic species such as fir, oak and beech or walnut are often used. Water-resistant teak is also well suited to humid environments.
Stone
Natural stone provides luxury in the bathroom and is robust at the same time. Granite, marble and slate are popular choices. They can be used in a variety of ways – from the stone wall, to the floor, to the washbasin.
Bamboo
Bamboo brings exotic flair to your bathroom. It scores points for its resistance to moisture and grows back particularly quickly. Partition walls, shelves or other bamboo elements are the perfect bathroom inspiration.
Rattan
Bathroom furniture and accessories made of rattan are all the rage. It is obtained from the rattan palm and is one of the most sustainable materials for furniture production. It is particularly light and stable – and gives your bathroom a relaxed boho character.
Trend 2: Sustainability
Environmental and climate protection is becoming more important – and bathroom ideas are also becoming more sustainable. Attention is being paid not only to the use of environmentally friendly materials, but also to their durability and recyclability. For example, recycled plastic or natural fibres such as hemp, jute or linen are increasingly being used in the manufacture of furniture and accessories
The trend towards sustainability includes other bathroom design ideas:
- Upcycling: Upcycling involves upcycling old items and turning them into something completely new. This applies to bathroom furniture or accessories, for example.
- Water and energy-saving solutions: Innovative, economical technologies for the bathroom are on the rise. These include fittings with water-saving technology, LED lighting and particularly efficient heating systems.
- Modular furniture systems: If you have furniture that adapts to your needs, you can use it for years to come. Modular furniture systems that can be flexibly reorganised are therefore another sustainable option for your bathroom.
Trend 3: Minimalism

True to the motto ‘less is more’, minimalism is becoming increasingly popular. Clear lines, muted colours and minimalist shapes radiate a calm atmosphere. Whether freestanding bathtubs, floating furniture or handleless fronts – the minimalist trend combines a simple look with functionality.
Materials that are suitable in this respect are glass or metal. The latter is often used in the form of stainless steel or brushed aluminium for mirrors or fittings. You can also make a good choice with ceramic or concrete.
Trend 4: Smart technologies
Innovation is a top priority – even in the bathroom. There are more and more intelligent solutions that make everyday life more convenient.
Intelligent mirrors
For example, smart mirrors have integrated lighting, a touchscreen or can be controlled by voice. Some models even offer functions such as light control and access to weather forecasts.
Smart shower systems
Smart shower systems allow you to regulate the temperature or keep an eye on your water consumption. Depending on the shower, there is even a suitable app.
Voice-controlled lighting
Control the lighting conditions by voice command? This function also has its place in the modern bathroom. So the lighting matches your mood and needs.
Automated fittings
Taps that can be controlled without touching them are hygienic and save water.
Smart Toilets
Heated seats, automated cleaning and odour neutralisation – intelligent toilet models offer these and other convenient functions.
Sensors
Anyone who struggles with moisture and odours will be delighted with this bathroom inspiration: fan with humidity sensor. This measures the humidity level in the room and switches on as soon as a certain value is exceeded. This helps to prevent mould.
Trend 5: Spa feeling at home

Spa feeling within your own four walls? With a few tips, you can transform your own bathroom into a real oasis of well-being. Materials such as natural stone, wood or glass combined with soft textiles such as cotton or bamboo fibre create a relaxed, modern ambience. If you want to set sensual accents, you can use essential oils, scented candles, plants and soft, dimmable lighting.
Of course, there is also the option of investing more in the wellness area. Whether it’s bathtubs with an integrated whirlpool function, rainforest showers or saunas and steam baths – these gadgets provide that extra spa factor.
Trend 6: Colours and patterns

Which colours and patterns adorn the bathroom depends entirely on taste. However, bathroom design trends are emerging that serve as inspiration.
Colours
A pleasant flair stands and falls with the right wall colour. The current favourites include white and cream as well as the perennial favourites:
- Warm earthy colours such as sand, olive green or beige
- Natural greenery such as sage, moss or eucalyptus
- Soft pastel colours such as rosé, light yellow or blue-grey
- Deep accents such as anthracite, forest green or navy blue
Sample
Patterns offer the opportunity to create exciting eye-catchers in the bathroom. These are popular:
- Natural textures such as wood grains, marbling or stone veinsern
- Geometric shapes such as herringbones, lines or hexagons
- Retro pattern in mid-century or art deco style
- Organic patterns such as leaves, flowers or waves
- Terrazzo pattern with speckled splashes of colour
Trend 7: Freestanding bathtubs

Freestanding bathtubs are the bathroom dream par excellence. They are not only functional, but also become a stylish design element. Models made of acrylic or cast iron are particularly popular – the latter are known for their durability. Those who prefer a more luxurious look can opt for bathtubs made of stone, copper or even special, water-resistant wood. These have a particularly elegant look. The placement of the freestanding bath in the room also has an influence on how it looks. A prominent position in the centre of the bathroom or by the window is often popular.
Trend 8: Innovative lighting
Bathroom design also includes the right lighting. It’s not just the aesthetics that matter, but also the functionality – after all, daily rituals have to work without a hitch. The right basic lighting is the be-all and end-all. It should be bright enough to illuminate the entire room. Energy-efficient, warm white LED lights are ideal here. If you want to be flexible, you can opt for dimmable or even colour-changing models. There are now also intelligent lighting systems that can be controlled by app or voice.
Targeted accent lighting is ideal for creating a modern bathroom design. Integrated mirror lighting, spotlights or indirectly scattered light – for example under washbasins or along the walls – influence the mood in the room.
Trend 9: Multifunctional furniturel
A piece of furniture that combines several functions – this trend is clever. Whether the bathroom doesn’t offer enough space or a minimalist furnishing style is required, multifunctional furniture offers many advantages.
On the one hand, they save space and, on the other, they can be extended as required using folding or pull-out elements. They also often offer hidden storage space. Some furniture features modern technologies, such as bathroom cabinets with USB ports or heated mirrors.
Trend 10: Retro elements

The retro trend has now also arrived in the bathroom. Vintage-style tiles are at the centre of this trend. The choice here is huge – from mosaic tiles from the 1920s and 30s to rectangular subway tiles and hexagon tiles, everything is possible. The retro colour palette includes pastel colours in contrast to eye-catching, patterned wallpaper.
Retro bathroom furniture such as wooden washbasins in mid-century style or mirror cabinets with rounded edges from the 1950s are eye-catching. Brass, copper or nickel taps with cross handles are typical of this interior design style. Pendant and wall lights or opal glass lamps put the bathroom design in the right light.
